Passchendaele -Strawberries, restaraunts, and fishing tournaments

Today for the first time in my life, I used a dispenser machine for produce.  It is wild that a Passchendaele farm that sells strawberries would have its own dispenser to sell fresh packed strawberries and homemade jam - so cool!
Another surprise for me today was when we stopped at the Passchendaele Museum grounds to eat our lunch and me and Graeme realized that there is a commercial restaraunt situated there.  As well, there is a playground for kiddies and there was a fishing tournament happening at the water`s edge.  The contestants were fishing for carp with extremely long black poles with line attached but no reels and the bait -potatoes!   We wondered how some people would react to the idea of a playground being on a site where so many died; would they feel it was irreverant?  What would those who died feel if they knew; would they be happy that a place of so much horror and grief had become a place of joy and play?     Kathleen Paul
